Special Equivalence Examination for Law Graduates (A Prerequisite Test to Appear in Bar Entrance Test – LAW-GAT)
The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, is organizing a Special Equivalence Examination (SEE-Law) for law graduates from foreign universities, in accordance with the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court. This initiative stems from the order dated March 06, 2018, and judgment dated August 31, 2018, passed in C.P.134/2012 “Pakistan Bar Council Vs Federation and others.” This examination is a mandatory prerequisite for appearing in the Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT) and is required for application to the Bar Council for enrollment as an advocate.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Law graduates from a foreign university/institution recognized by HEC/PBC are eligible to apply.
Curriculum of Special Equivalence Examination (SEE-LAW): The SEE-Law will follow the approved syllabus available at HEC SEE-LAW Syllabus.
Test Type: The test will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only.
Date of Examination: The SEE-Law is tentatively scheduled for December 17th, 2023. Any changes will be communicated through HEC website and ETC portal.
How to Register: Visit ETC portal for online registration. For assistance during online registration, visit onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk. Only SUBMITTED applications will be considered for the SEE-Law Test.
Test Fee: A non-refundable and non-transferable test fee of Rs. 5000/- is to be deposited via 1link 1Bill Invoice. Verify the online payment on the ETC Dashboard after depositing the fee.
Deadline for Online Registration: December 4th, 2023.
Other Requirements/Conditions:
- A 50% score is required to qualify for the SEE-Law.
- Applicants must meet other criteria specified by the Rules & Regulations of the Pakistan Bar Council.
- Applicants have a maximum of five chances to clear the examination, which HEC will conduct twice a year or on a quarterly basis as needed.
